AUDITION CALL!

The annual Redwood musical is open to all 6th-8th grade students. All students who audition will be cast. Stage/Tech crew is open to 6th-8th grade students. (Note: Stage/Tech Crew do NOT need to attend auditions but DO need to register so we know you are joining us this fall/winter)

Steps to Register for Rock of Ages, YE:

1) Please access the Audition Info and Materials Info for all needed information about auditions.

2) Join our ROA, YE Google Classroom (code: yi2nfily) (ROA Invite Link)

(NOTE: You cannot use your saratogausd.org or many work related emails. Students/Parents should use a personal email to join)

3) OPENING SOON: Complete the PTA Registration for your student, including students wishing to join Stage/Tech Crew (you must be singed into your PTA account to access the musical registration. If you have multiple students, please complete registrations for each child)

4) OPENING SOON: All students who choose to participate in any PTA activity must sign the annual PTA Waiver (you must be singed into your PTA account to access the Waiver).

 ROA, YE Performances will take place January 15-17, 2027 at the McAfee Performing Arts Center. We rehearse Fridays 3:10-6:00 and Saturdays, 9:00-3:00 (Redwood MPR). A detailed schedule and call list will be published after auditions

Set on L.A.'s famous Sunset Strip in 1987, Rock of Ages, Youth Edition tells the story of Drew, a city boy from South Detroit, and Sherrie, a small-town girl, who have both traveled to L.A. to chase their dreams of making it big. This classic story is set against the troubles at the Dupree Room, a “legendary temple of rock 'n' roll excellence” under threat of being torn down by developers and replaced with a strip mall. The threats of closure bring legendary rocker Stacee Jaxx to town, and an opportunity for Drew to chase his dream to rock out with the best. Trouble brews for Drew, Sherrie, and their friends as they dream of stardom and the Dupree Room is slated to be surrendered to developers. Rock of Ages: Youth Edition has all the 80s rock anthems we know and love, with a fun-filled coming of age story. Don't Stop Believin'!

NOTE to PARENTS: Youth Editions of musicals are abridged and content-appropriate adaptations of full-length shows tailored specifically for performance by young actors. They feature altered musical keys for developing voices and  have removed mature or complex content. Parents: Please research before watching other ROA editions or the ROA movie, as they will vary in content and subject matter from the Youth Edition we are performing.
